PXW-FS5 Firmware V3.0

Upgrade is free of charge and available as of November 2016 

New Features & Improvements:

● MPEG HD recording/playback (“CBKZ-SLMP” (sold separately) is required).
● RM-30BP Remote Commander is now supported.

PXW-X70 Firmware V3.01

Upgrade is free of charge and available as of November 2016

New Features & Improvements:
● Resolves a rare bug where update to V3.0 was unsuccessful.
Adds support for upgrading with macOS v.10.12 (which was released in September 2016).

V3 features include: 
● Support for XAVC QFHD 4K 100Mbps (3840x2160) at 30p/25p/24p, plus MPEG HD422 50Mbps (1920x1080) at 60i/50i/30p/25p/24p and (1280x720) at 60p/50p.*
● For XAVC QFHD 4K recordings, the PXW-X70 also requires the paid-for upgrade CBKZ-X70FX software key.
● Support for MPEG HD422 50Mbps (1920x1080) at 60i/50i/30p/25p/24p and (1280x720) at 60p/50p, as well as MPEG HD420 35Mbps (1920x1080) at 60i/50i/30p/25p/24p, (1440x1080) at 60i/50i and (1280x720) at 60p/50p.**
● 
** For MPEG HD recordings, the PXW-X70 also requires the paid-for upgrade CBKZ-SLMP software key [expected availability from July 2016].
● Support for high quality QoS Streaming to PWS-100RX1.
● Support for Ustream® direct streaming in real time. Two resolution modes are available: 1280x720 at 29.97p, 25p, 23.98p, or 640x360 at 29.97p, 25p, 23.98p.
● HDMI/SDI/composite output selection during QFHD recording. 
● XAVC Salvage – XAVC file protection with salvage recording function in case of accidental power loss.

PXW-X500 Firmware V5.00

PMW-F55 and PMW-F5 V8.0

Upgrades are free of charge and available as of October 2016.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The update procedure may differ depending upon the serial number of the F55/F5 camera. Please contact the Sony Service Centre and they will then provide the update procedures and required files. Some older versions of firmware will require a depot repair service to upgrade as they are NOT all customer upgradeable.

V8.0 NEW FEATURES

XAVC 4K/QFHD Class480 (PMW-F55 and PMW-F5 with CBKZ-55FX only)
XAVC 4K Class480 can be recorded and playback when the system frequency is set to 23.98, 24.0, 25.0, or 29.97. And XAVC QFHD Class480 can be recorded and playback when the system frequency is set to 23.98, 25.0, or 29.97.

Supporting AXS-R7, new Portable Memory Recorder
The PMW-F55/F5 is compatible with the portable memory recorder AXS-R7. The following functions are available by attaching the AXS-R7 to the camcorder. 4K 120fps recording (PMW-F55 only): 4K 120FPS picture can be recorded to the AXS memory card. When the system frequency is set to 23.98P, slow motion picture in 4K at 5× slower speed can be recorded.

New format X-OCN recording: In addition to the F55RAW recording mode, a new format X-OCN, which can record more effectively, is available.

Picture Cache function: The Picture Cache function is also available for recording to an AXS memory card. The Cache Rec Time can be selected up to 30 seconds.

Supporting new G series and M series XQD memory cards
The new G series (QD-G32E, QD-G64E, QD-G128E) and M series (QD-M32A, QD-M64A, QD-M128A) have been added to the XQD memory card lineup, which can be used with the camcorder. Like the existing G series, the new G series can be used with all recording formats and also when “High Frame Rate Mode” is set to “On” or “Off.” The M series, like the N series, can be used with MPEG 1920 × 1080 P/i and 1280 × 720 P.

* The XQD ExpressCard adapter (QDA-EX1) is required to use an XQD memory card

PXW-X160 and PXW-X180 V3.10

PXW-FS7 Firmware V4.0

PXW-X200 Firmware V2.2

Upgrade is free of charge and will be available from April 2016

New Features & Improvements:
● MPEG2 HD4:2:0 simultaneous recording on two cards (exFAT and UDF).
● SDXC card compatibility (exFAT only).
● Customisable user menu with lock function to ensure there are no unauthorised changes.
● Create a rough cut edit on a smartphone or tablet using the Content Browser Mobile application and export the EDL with trimmed proxy or high-resolution files directly to a non-linear editor for editing, when recording on UDF or exFAT. Remote browsing and file transfer of files to your broadcast station is also possible.
